Facelifted BMW 3 Series Saloon and Touring: Available from July 2015

BMW has given a facelift update to its massively successful 3 Series; coming with new engines, enhanced gearbox, revised chassis, improved fuel economy and low CO2 emissions. It is available from July 2015 to the UK market.

Ever Popular BMW 3 Series

BMW 3 Series is one of the most popular models in the BMW range, with over 14 million cars sold worldwide since production began in 1975. The 3 Series is very popular among business drivers for its competitive pricing and better fuel economy.

DESIGN AND STYLING:

A new 3 Series sits on the same platform as the existing model, although BMW engineers claim to have revised three of the car’s chassis set-ups such as – standard, M-Sport and Adaptive. The styling modifications are subtle but the new 3 Series appears lower and wider than ever before. It features new front and rear bumpers, with longer horizontal elements, and revised headlights. For the saloon and Touring versions, the bonnet, doors, wings and roof remain unchanged. Getting inside, 3 Series buyers will find the new high-gloss plastics and chrome materials with the Sat-Nav comes as standard across BMW’s entire range.

ENGINES:

Most of the engines have been updated to the new 3 Series that come from the latest modular BMW Efficient Dynamics engine family.

The petrol engine range now starts with a three-cylinder 318i, equipped with the 134bhp 1.5-litre turbocharged engine along with 320i, 330i and 340i units.

All of the four-cylinder diesel engines are new and are based around BMW’s latest B47 motor. It offers five unit options including 316d, 318d, 320d, 330d and 335d. The 320d diesel engines comes with efficient dynamics technology offers a fuel economy of 72.4 to 74.3 miles per gallon and CO2 emissions of 99 to 112 grams per kilometre.

BMW will continue to offer 3 Series with iXDrive four-wheel drive system that are available as an option on the 320i, 320d, 330d and 335d.

BMW is also planning to launch a plug-in hybrid range of 3 Series models next year. It combines a 184 horse power 2.0 litre petrol engine with an 80kilowatt electric motor offering starting combined fuel consumption of 134.5 miles per gallon and CO2 emissions of 49 grams per kilometre.

The 3 Series has always been one of the UK’s favourite executive cars to drive without spending huge amounts on a supercar.
