All of the four-cylinder diesel engines are new and are based around BMW’s latest B47 motor. It offers five unit options including 316d, 318d, 320d, 330d and 335d. The 320d diesel engines comes with efficient dynamics technology offers a fuel economy of 72.4 to 74.3 miles per gallon and CO2 emissions of 99 to 112 grams per kilometre.

BMW will continue to offer 3 Series with iXDrive four-wheel drive system that are available as an option on the 320i, 320d, 330d and 335d.

BMW is also planning to launch a plug-in hybrid range of 3 Series models next year. It combines a 184 horse power 2.0 litre petrol engine with an 80kilowatt electric motor offering starting combined fuel consumption of 134.5 miles per gallon and CO2 emissions of 49 grams per kilometre.

The 3 Series has always been one of the UK’s favourite executive cars to drive without spending huge amounts on a supercar.
