About the Toyota C-HR+
The Toyota C-HR+ shares its name with the hybrid Toyota C-HR crossover.
The two cars are, however, less similar than they might appear at first glance, despite the familiar styling.
The electric C-HR+ is actually built on the same ‘eTNGA’ platform as the larger Toyota bZ4X which helps it secure what Toyota calls ‘class above’ standards of interior space.
The boot space of the C-HR+ is, for example, up significantly on the C-HR hybrid, with a maximum luggage capacity of 416 litres (which is a good 106 litres more than the plug-in hybrid variant of the regular C-HR).
Why lease the Toyota C-HR+?
When it comes to Toyota’s electric offering, the C-HR+ sits between the smaller Toyota Urban Cruiser and the larger Toyota bZ4X.
And what’s perhaps most appealing about the C-HR+ is its range between charges - up to a maximum of 376 miles when you choose the 77 kWh battery.
That compares well to rivals, with the likes of the Skoda Elroq having a lesser range and the Ford Explorer falling just short with a max of 374 miles.
All models are well equipped as standard, with entry-level variants boasting a large 14-inch touchscreen, heated steering wheel, and Toyota’s comprehensive ‘Safety Sense’ suite of driver assistance systems.

Entry-level Icon models come equipped with 18-inch black metallic alloys, an 11kW onboard charger, seven-inch digital driver’s display, 14-inch multimedia touchscreen, wireless charging and wireless smartphone mirroring, combination fabric and synthetic leather upholstery and a heated steering wheel. The comprehensive Toyota Safety Sense and driver assistance systems include a Blind Spot Monitor with Safe Exit Assist, which warns if a door is being opened into the path of traffic approaching from behind.
Design
The mid-level Design grade introduces the larger 77 kWh battery and also gets a powered tailgate, rear privacy glass, and the option of larger 20-inch alloys.
Excel
The range-topping Excel trim features a faster 22kW onboard charger, power driver’s seat adjustment, synthetic suede and leather upholstery, headlight cleaners, and a Panoramic View Monitor to help precise manoeuvring in tight spaces. An enhanced safety and assistance package includes Front Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Change Assist and touch-sensor controls for the Lane Trace Assist system.

No, the Toyota C-HR+ is not the same as the regular Toyota C-HR and there are some key differences. While it carries over styling cues, the C-HR+ is a distinct, battery-electric model with a dedicated EV platform rather than a hybrid or petrol system. The C-HR+ is also slightly larger than the C-HR.
There are two batteries available when you lease the Toyota C-HR+. The entry-level 57.7 kWh pack has a range of up to 284 miles between charges while the larger 77 kWh battery ups the range to a max of 376 miles.
The C-HR+ supports fast DC charging up to 150 kW, and comes with an onboard AC charger (11 kW standard, 22 kW on higher grades). Battery pre-conditioning helps optimise charging speed even in cold weather.
The Toyota C-HR+ varies in power output according to which battery pack you choose. The entry-level unit provides 167hp and acceleration from 0-62mph in 8.4 seconds. The larger 77 kWh battery unlocks more power - up to 224hp - while the 0-62mph time shrinks to 7.3 seconds. Here in the UK, the Toyota C-HR+ is offered exclusively with front-wheel drive.
