The RF’s roof will fully-retract in 13 seconds thanks to its electronic mechanism, while the roof of the traditional soft-top MX-5 is actually operated by hand.

Moving up through the two other trim levels - ‘Exclusive-Line’ and ‘Homura’ - unlocks extras such as a front strut brace, limited slip differential, sports suspension with Bilstein dampers, and a Nappa leather interior with heated seats.

All MX-5’s also come with what Mazda calls ‘Kinematic Posture Control’, or ‘KPC, which is designed to increase stability during cornering without impacting the ‘purity of the MX-5’s handling and driver engagement’.

As a rival to the Audi TT Roadster or the BMW Z4 Roadster, the Mazda MX-5 RF takes some beating, and it’s also the most affordable leasing option of that trio.
