KGM is the new name for SsangYong, following a major rebrand in 2024.
The Korando slots into the KGM range between the smaller Tivoli SUV and the larger Rexton SUV. And this Korando e-Motion represents the firm’s first ever all-electric offering.
A 61.5 kWh battery gives a range of up to 210 miles between charges and decent power of 188 bhp.
A rival to competitors such as the Peugeot 2008 or the award-winning MG ZS EV, DC rapid charging can be enjoyed at a speed of 100kW.
Plug it into a 7kW home wall box and you’ll replenish the battery in 11 hours. Meanwhile using a 50kW charger will top up the battery from 20 to 80 per cent in just 54 minutes.
As with all the cars in the KGM stable, the Korando e-Motion comes generously equipped as standard, in a bid to lure you away from other brands.
With entry-level models, lease customers will enjoy a large 12.3 inch infotainment screen, full phone connectivity, a rear view camera, and driver assistance systems like autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist.
At the other end of the scale, the top trim provides a full-leather interior, heated and ventilated front seats, a separate heat pump to keep the cabin nice and toasty without draining the battery, a powered tailgate, parking sensors front and rear and wireless phone charging.
And a really important thing to note is that because there are zero emissions at the tailpipe, company car lease customers will pay a low Benefit in Kind (BIK) tax.
