About the Ineos Grenadier SUV
Ineos Automotive is a British firm, headquartered in London, and founded by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, chairman of the multinational chemicals company Ineos.
Sir Jim’s favourite vehicle of all time is the previous incarnation of the Land Rover Defender - the model discontinued before the Defender was re-birthed as a modern SUV in 2020.
And the Grenadier SUV - known as the ‘Station Wagon’ - is Ineos’ interpretation of that legendary vehicle. It’s a ‘no-nonsense workhorse with the comfort, refinement and standard features that today’s drivers expect’, Ineos says.
The Grenadier also marries ‘rugged British spirit’ with reliable German engineering, as all engines are sourced directly from BMW.
Why lease the Ineos Grenadier SUV?
The Ineos Grenadier is renowned for its abilities off-road.
Permanent all-wheel-drive is standard while a traditional ladder-frame chassis (like Defenders of old) gives it strength and durability on really rough terrain.
There’s a two-speed transfer case with both high and low-range gears while a centre differential lock is standard.
The steering system of the Ineos Grenadier is unique in that it’s a recirculating-ball set-up, rather than traditional rack-and-pinion, which is preferred for serious off-roading (while slightly more vague on fast-flowing roads).
The steering was, however, significantly updated in 2026. The latest models feature a steering box with a variable ratio for the first time, allowing for a tighter, firmer feel and better responsiveness during more dynamic driving.

The base Ineos Grenadier SUV is available with either a petrol or diesel engine and comes with permanent all-wheel-drive, centre differential lock, front and rear skid plates, off-road and wading modes, Recaro seats, rear view camera, rear parking assist, and safety tech such as Intelligent Speed Assist and Automatic Emergency Braking.
Trialmaster Edition
The rugged Trailmaster model features a raised air intake, exterior utility belt, access ladder, a compass with altimeter, a high load auxiliary switch panel with electrical preparation, differential locks on the front and rear, and Goodrich all-terrain tyres.
Fieldmaster Edition
Ineos says the Fieldmaster Edition is designed for ‘exploration and escapism’. It features fold up Safari windows in the front roof panel, leather trim, a premium sound system, heated front seats, and 17-inch alloys.
Black Edition
The Black Edition gets a more modern, urban, darkened aesthetic and more premium features that include a dark interior headlining and carpet flooring and gloss black 18-inch alloys.
