The legendary Fiat 500 boasts a history dating back to the 1950s, and was revitalised in the mid 2000s.

And now, as a 100 per cent electric vehicle with zero emissions and bundles of personality, Fiat has cemented the 500’s future, too.

The iconic retro looks of the little Fiat remain firmly in place with the 500 Electric model - which sits at the foot of the Fiat range, behind the larger 500X and Panda.

What’s different is that the traditional engine of old has been replaced with a battery and electric motor that combine to generate power of 118 hp.

Lease customers will enjoy a range of almost 200 miles while the battery is simple to recharge - using a dedicated home wall box you can replenish the energy up to 80% full in less than four hours.

Meanwhile there are two distinct variants of the 500 Electric - a hatchback or ‘Cabrio’ soft top, the latter of which has an electrically-operated sliding fabric roof that allows drivers to feel the wind in their hair.

The entry-level ‘Icon’ models feature a 10.25 inch infotainment touchscreen with sat nav as well as 16 inch alloys and an eco-leather steering wheel.

You can also expect driver assistance and safety systems such as lane keep assist and advanced emergency braking as standard.

Range-topping La Prima models add extras such as larger alloys, an uprated sound system and wireless mobile charging.
