The CUPRA Terramar is a bold, in-your-face SUV that lacks nothing when it comes to personality and presence.
CUPRA describes the Terramar as being ‘rebellious’ and ‘defiant’ and its shark nose, long bonnet and low-slung look gives it the air of a sports car.
In terms of its size, the Terramar is bigger than both the CUPRA Ateca and CUPRA Formentor, while the option of a sliding rear bench of seats unlocks a cavernous 630-litre boot.
Leasing rivals to the CUPRA Terramar include the Volkswagen Tiguan, Nissan Qashqai, Kia Sportage and the seven-seat Skoda Kodiaq.
It’s fair to say that there aren’t many family-sized SUVs that look as aggressive as the Terramar and it’s a car that stands out from the crowd.
The name ‘Terramar’ pays homage to Terramar, the historic racing circuit where the CUPRA brand was born.
With sport suspension and progressive steering fitted as standard - and the option of adaptive chassis control and Akebono brakes - the Terramar wears its sporting credentials on its sleeve.
There’s a host of different powertrains to choose from, with plug-in hybrid variants offering power of up to 272 PS and a max 70-mile EV range.
A 1.5-litre petrol engine with 150 PS is married to a 48V mild-hybrid system for maximum efficiency. This powertrain is mated to a 7-speed DSG transmission.
Here you’ll find a choice of two different 2.0-litre petrol engines, both linked to a 7-speed auto gearbox and both delivering CUPRA’s ‘4Drive’ all-wheel drive system. Range-topping VZ models get 265 PS and can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 5.9 secs.
Here a 1.5-litre petrol engine is combined with a 19.7 kWh battery and electric motor to develop either 204 PS or 272 PS. The battery is fast charge compatible at up to 50kW (DC charge) while on the road, or at home using a 11kW wallbox. There’s also a range of up to 70 miles using just electricity.
The CUPRA Terramar includes a high level of specification as standard, with key highlights including a 12.9-inch central display with navigation, and assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control and rear view camera.
