BMW 5 Series Lease

The 5 Series is one of BMW's longest-standing models, well-known for its class-leading luxury, power and wealth of practical features. No wonder, then, that BMW calls the 5 Series a ‘modern masterpiece’.

Sitting between the 4 Series and 7 Series in the BMW range, it also remains a close rival to the likes of the Mercedes E-Class and Audi A6.

The 5 Series was revised and re-launched in 2023, gaining a more dominant, powerful look on the road, a more refined interior, and updated tech, including a larger infotainment touchscreen.

Available in either 5 Series ‘Touring’ Estate or 5 Series Saloon form, the BMW 5 Series should be an extremely attractive option for your next car and its impressive list of strengths mean that it should cater to almost every motorist’s demands.

Fuel-efficient plug-in hybrid powertrains are also available, with an electric range of up to 62 miles, a fact that will help to lower your Benefit in Kind (BIK) tax burden as a company car business lease customer.

About the BMW 5 Series

The 5 Series is a real stalwart of the BMW range, having first graced UK roads way back in the early 1970s when it was hailed as highly-refined, premium cruiser.

Since that point on, the 5 Series has adapted and evolved to meet the needs and demands of modern customers. While the 5 Series of the 70s was fairly lethargic, you can’t accuse the latest incarnation of being a slouch.

The BMW 5 Series is available as either a Saloon or ‘Touring’ estate. It’s a car that was revised and re-launched in 2023.

There are some seriously potent engines available, including the 333 hp, all-wheel drive 540i xDrive, which can accelerate from 0-62mph in 5.2 seconds.

All the performance is also married to ultimate poise, too, ensuring you’ll never get bent out of shape in a 5 Series.

Why lease a BMW 5 Series?

You lease a BMW 5 Series because you want the build quality and kudos of that famous German badge, while also having the practicality to accommodate the entire family.

The BMW 5 Series Touring estate has a boot that measures 570 litres, which is larger than rivals like the Volvo V90, while the 5 Series Saloon has a boot that weighs-in at 530 litres - precisely the same as the Audi A6 Saloon.

The other great thing about the 5 Series is that, like the A6, there’s the option of a frugal plug-in hybrid powertrain.

The latest ‘530e’ PHEV has a range of up to 62 miles of electric driving range.

Which BMW 5 Series fuel type is right for me?

There are petrol and diesel engines, all supported by mild-hybrid technology, while the plug-in hybrid powertrains are as exciting as they are frugal.

Petrol

The 520i is the entry-level petrol mill, with power of 184 hp and wallet-friendly fuel economy.

Diesel

The BMW 5 Series 520d has power of 190 hp and can return upwards of 50 miles to the gallon.

Plug-in hybrid

In October 2023 BMW launched two plug-in hybrid powertrains for the 5 Series Saloon, promising a 62-mile electric range and considerable fuel economy.

Which BMW 5 Series trim level should I lease?

The trim levels for the BMW 5 Series begins at the entry level ‘SE’ and is followed by ‘M Sport’ and then the potent ‘M Models’. The range-topping M Model variants are not to be confused with the 625 bhp M5 Competition, which is a law unto itself!

SE

SE

The SE models get 17 inch alloys, heated front seats, cruise control with brake assist, and an interior ambient lighting back.

M Sport

M Sport

M Sport variants add larger 19 inch alloys, M Sport exterior styling, M Sport suspension, and an uprated interior.

M Sport Pro

M Sport Pro

The M Sport Pro BMW 5 Series Saloon features larger 20-inch alloys, launch control, and a unique rear spoiler, among other additions.

What vehicles are similar to the BMW 5 Series that I should consider?

The Audi A6 and Mercedes-Benz E-Class are natural challengers to the BMW 5 Series - but there are other contenders:

Volvo V90 Estate

Volvo V90 Estate

The V90 is an estate, so rivals the 5 Series Touring, while the Volvo S90 is a saloon which rivals the 5 Series saloon. Both the S90 and V90 have slightly smaller boots than the BMW equivalent.

Audi A6 Avant

Audi A6 Avant

Like the BMW 5 Series, the Audi A6 boasts exceptional amounts of interior space and the option of a plug-in hybrid powertrain.
