Pod Point on a charge with LEVC VN5 electric vans

The London Electric Vehicle Company - better known as LEVC- is providing 60 of its VN5 electric vans to Pod Point, one of the UK’s leading providers of EV charging infrastructure.

Pod Point’s engineers will use VN5 vans when installing EV charging points across the UK, as well as when maintaining more than 6,200 public charging bays it already has in place.

LEVC VN5 Suitability

The LEVC VN5 is ideally suited to Pod Point’s fleet requirements, thanks to the flexibility that its range-extender powertrain offers. While the VN5 is powered by an electric motor with a battery pack providing a range of up to 64 miles, a petrol-powered generator can provide more electricity when required, extending the range as far as 319 miles.

This combination allows for zero-emission driving in urban and ULEZ areas, while allowing engineers and technicians to travel farther afield without suffering any range anxiety.

Despite its compact dimensions, the VN5 provides impressive cargo-carrying capabilities. The van's large side-loading door and 60/40 split rear door make accessing the installation equipment simple and efficient for Pod Point's installers, aided by bespoke racking and storage solutions installed by Sortimo, an authorised conversion partner of LEVC.

Designed, engineered and built at LEVC’s factory in Ansty, Coventry, the VN5 utilises the same lightweight bonded aluminium monocoque & SMC construction as the TX taxi – a first in the one-tonne van sector – which LEVC claims is designed to last twice as long as the competition.

“Vehicle electrification is one of the most powerful ways to stop travel damaging the earth and our mission is to put an EV chargepoint everywhere you park. We are delighted to be working with LEVC and the VN5 is a natural fit for our business and our growing team of expert installers.”
- Graham Evans, Chief of Operations, Pod Point.

The introduction of the LEVC VN5 to the Pod Point fleet follows a year of growth for the EV charging provider. Headcount has increased by 66%, to 409 employees, including 60 dedicated in-house installers.
