The top five lowest-emitting cars in each category

Author: Dipti Parmar     Date: 24-06-2015

Vehicle emissions are on a rapid downward spiral, so it’s easier than ever for fleets to make environmental choices without compromising on choice of quality.

Driving low CO2 emission cars helps company car drivers to take the most efficient option to ensure they are minimising bills across company car benefit-in-kind, fuel and national insurance. That’s the main driving force behind the huge reductions in average fleet CO2 emissions over the past few years.

Here, we have taken a look at the best low emission cars in the UK across the whole range of criteria. Whether you have a fleet or personal need, you can see the best low emission cars in luxury, executive, supermini and SUV categories.

The electric and hybrid cars can offer the lowest CO2 emissions of sub-76 grams per kilometre. According to Business car’s research, there are now 67 different models from carmakers such as Nissan, Ford, Kia, Tesla even Mercedes & Porsche. In the past 12 months, we have remained at a total of 15 manufacturers in the sector, with the introduction of the Audi A3 e-tron and Kia Soul EV respectively. As we all know, electric/hybrid cars are not suitable for all users, as they need the right sort of journey to make them cost-effective.

Some cars even fall into the sub-95g/km category of models; showing the benefit of tax busting and fuel efficient transport. Take a look at the top three low CO2 emissions category for the best cars in its segment.
