Tesla Model X: Everything you need to know

Tesla's reputation for high-class technology coupled with their all-electric vehicles has made them a force to be reckoned with in the automotive industry. This is true now more than ever with the brand intrducing their first ever SUV; the Model X this year. How does this car compare to Tesla's other popular models?

ENGINES

The Model X has some fantastic engines on offer and those following the manufacturer in the buildup to the release of their flagship SUV will perhaps already know that the fastest version of the vehicle has near super-car rivalling stats and will go from 0-60mph in 3.2 seconds.

The handling and comfortability of the Model X has come in for praise among the motoring press which isn't exactly surprising going on Tesla's track-record. What engine is best for you? Each engine has its own benefits with the entry-level 60D going from 0-60mph in a still impressive 6 seconds. This engine will also give you an all-electric range of 220-miles - admittedly one of the smallest of all the engines on offer. The 75D engine gives you the exact same 0-60 time and horsepower in 328bhp but has a greater all-electric range of 259 miles. There is also the 90D which does 0-60mph in a trimmed 4.8 seconds and has an increased power of 417bhp. It will also give you a fantastic all-electric range of around 303 miles.

The top spec P90D packs some unbelievable stats especially in 'Ludicrous' Mode where it will go from 0-60mph in a miniscule 3.2 seconds.

INTERIOR & TECHNOLOGY

The Model X certainly has a highly impressive exterior design but how does it shape-up inside? The doors open out and up which is a feature that is unconvential for an SUV and is likely to split much of the consumer base. Of course, the interior has been designed to a high-quality standard with a 17-inch touchscreen. There is a stereo system which sits across the top of the dashboard which has been lauded for its quality. Quick Connect Pairing for your phone is available and the Sat-Nav system updates with rela-time traffic info.

Folding down the rear-seats gives you a very impressive 2,180-litres of boot space and there's even a 187-litre boot in the front for additional storage. There's plenty of room inside the cabin & the addition of a Panaromic windscreen gives you some of the best visibility available in any vehicle.

Tesla's Autopilot feature has been championed over the years and will even drive the car for you on motorways.

SAFETY

A good guide for how safe a car is usually comes from the regulator EuroNCAP - unfortunately they haven't given the Model X a run yet so there are no stats for it. However, we do know that there is plenty of equipment available to Model X drivers including parking sensors, emergency braking & blind spot warning.

Very straightforward process. All staff members that I spoke with were courteous and helpful with my query. Vehicle arrived and communication with select was excellent. Would highly recommend.
