Meet the 2015 Nissan Murano

Author: Select Contracts     Date: 24-01-2015

Nissan continue to break records and produce some of the finest vehicles on our roads today as they further strengthen their position on the world stage. The world's sixth largest car manufacturer by total revenue, sales and production and one of the most highly-regarded brands of any kind in the world - Nissan continue to fight their corner in the increasingly competitive Asian automotive market. Boasting the best-selling global electric car; the Nissan Leaf and 2014's WhatCar? Car of the Year the Qashqai within their ranks, Nissan already have a strong set of successful cars, and they will hope 2015's additions will go some way to enhancing this.

And that's exactly what they'll be doing with the all-new Nissan Murano SUV, a vehicle unveiled at the 2014 edition of the New York Motor Show that is poised to be released to the European market with the added bonus of the highly coveted hybrid power. It will be a welcome addition to the SUV sector which is becoming more bloated year-on-year. Although the Murano will not be joining the bottom of the pile - arriving top the range ahead of it's comrades the Qashqai, X- Trail and Juke.

Nissan's boss Andy Palmer has stated he feels the Murano will be an ''important car for Nissan in Europe''. It's clear the Murano is prepared to enter the market with a significant amount of pomp and circumstance and boasting a number of high-tech features, a sharp exterior design and interior likely to be equally as lavish it would appear this confidence is well placed.

If hybrid isn't your thing then a  diesel version producing 158bhp and 380Nm of torque and weighing a ballpark figure of around 60kg more than the old Murano, is also available. The twin-turbo 1.6-litre Energy used by Renault seems the most logical solution.

In terms of the exterior, the stand-out feature of the Murano is it's protruding grille which fits-well and looks incredibly fiersome and combines this with a V-motion design and boomerang LED front lights that have become a staple of Nissan products over the last few years.

It seems a number of features will be given the litmus test in this model including the floating roof that Nissan hopes to become an icon of it's future models, SUV or otherwise.

The interior boasted by the Murano is especially luxurious, with smooth edges and an ornate set of exclusive features. The internal design is currently being touted as a 'social lounge interior' with an 8-inch touchscreen and a 7-inch HD colour screen. Nissan has been working with NASA on it's driverless cars, and the seats in the vehicle are  said to be insipired by the famous groundbreaking organisation in order to work against muscle strain.

Nissan is now incredibly well known for it's economical vehicles, with the Leaf and excellent safety-features with the X-Trail and it will continue this with a host of features including Blind Spot Warning, Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Forward Emergency Braking, Intelligent Cruise Control and Cross Traffic Alert.
