Goodwood Festival of Speed 2015 Preview

Author: Christian Storm     Date: 20-06-2015

With summer finally here, it’s time Britain’s motoring events began to kick-off. It began with the London Motor Expo in Canary Wharf last Friday and culimantes in the world-famous Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The shows are two very different animals, the London Motor Expo gives city-goers the chance to see world class vehicles such as the Lamborghini Aventador and Rolls Royce Wraith in the flesh while Goodwood gives you that, plus an eventful few days of track racing, other motoring events and of course a platform for manufacturers to reveal their all-new models.

For the latter, there’s also the added benefit of the picturesque location of the Goodwood Estate which has hosted many famous names down the years. And that’s without mentioning the annual hillclimb which gives cars of all different types the chance to take on Goodwood’s world renoun track.

GOODWOOD’S BEST CARS

The average motoring enthusiast will be far from bored, even if you can’t catch a glimpse of the new models there’s plenty of old classics to satisfying your car craving and the quality of these vehicles has arguably made Goodwood the event it is today. There will be over 200,000 passing through the gates at the iconic location off the Sussex coast and those going will certainly not be disappointed. Here are some of the best vehicles gracing the festival...

ASTON MARTIN

The new Vantage GT12 will be basking in the Goodwood sunshine, and not just sitting calmly in one of the many cavern-liek indoor halls and showrooms. The vehicle will be taking the daring ascent of Goodwood’s HillClimb and company CEO Andy Palmer will be driving. No pressure then...

FERRARI

It wouldn’t be Goodwood without Ferrari. The Italian brand has become such a big part of what goes on here and that looks set to continue this year. The 488 GTB and FXXK will be in action on the hillclimb with the latter looking to showcase it’s astounding 1,036bhp. Yes, that’s right. 1,036bhp.

FORD

A very different kettle of fish from Ford every year and that trend is ringing true with the champagne model the Ford Focus RS able to be seen in the flesh for the first time EVER in the UK. There’s also a tasty rumour going round that the GT Supercar is making it’s way down for a few days out. Don’t quote us on that, though.

HONDA

The manufacturer have enjoyed a real buzz surrounding their extremely rapid Honda Civic Type R. The vehicle has been farmed out for a couple of test-drives but we’ll get a seriously good look when it takes on the treacherous hillclimb. That isn’t it, though, there’s also the new HR-V and Jazz.

JAGUAR

British brand couldn’t miss out on Britain’s premier show without their own helping of pizzazz. There’s a debut fro the new Jaguar XF who’s release is imminent. There’s also a nice new Jaguar XJ which has been facelifted.

MCLAREN

Not an affordable saloon, I’m afraid but exciting news for show-goers looking to ogle the best supercars you can currently get behind the wheel of. The P1 GTR is a monster of a vehicle and you’ll be able to see it in all it’s glory with a classy 978bhp and a 3.8-litre engine possibly getting a run-out.

NISSAN

We’ve been treated to a few natty screenshots of the fresh new Juke-R. With a nismo upgrade this titan of a vehicle will demonstrate a bone-chilling 600bhp.

VAUXHALL

As sure as night follows day, the best Vauxhall models will be at Goodwood. The VXR will be there, in all it’s 1,400bhp glory and there will also be a VXR8 GTS delivering over 500bhp and a pumped-up Corsa.

BEST OF THE REST...

Audi could have a sterling show with the new R8 making it’s way across Europe to grace us with it’s presence. The 308 GTi from Peugeot is there, as is Lexus’ brilliant GS-F model. The Mazda MX-5 inches ever closer to release and we’ll be able to see it here alongside a facelifted Continetal GT from Bentley. These are just some of the amazing vehicles at the Show, there’s sure to be a few surprises and plenty of other motoring-enthused activities.

Goodwood kicks off on the 25th of June, meanwhile check out of the latest car leasing deals from all the manufacturers listed above.

How autumn leaves could be damaging your car
MOTORISTS have been warned to steer clear of autumn leaves because they could be turning your car into a deadly fire hazard. Trees in the UK lose their leaves with increasing frequency late October and early November. While they create an annual pre-winter spectacle, shed leaves also create a dangerous hazard for Britain's motorists.
