Audi Q8 - New SUV on the horizon

Author: Select Car Leasing     Date: 21-11-2017

The Audi Q7 - Audi's flagship SUV which became famous and remains widely recognised on the road for its big, bulky frame & tremendous power under the bonnet will no longer be the largest SUV available from the brand as they set their sights on a 2018 release for their all-new Q8 model.

The Q8, which will certainly catch the eye while out and about, promises to lock horns with some of the more pronounced vehicles in the SUV sector including the Ranger Rover Sport. Business at Audi's factory is unlikely to be quiet over the coming months & years. - there is plenty in the pipeline from the famous German marque including a Q1 and Q4 model as well as an all-electric Q6 model. That'll complete the set for Audi from 1-8 and follows in the footsteps of the diverse and highly successful BMW equivalents which cover everything from the small, coupe SUV to the bulky off-roaders. The arrival of the Q8 for many was seen as an inevitability once Audi rolled out their Q2 model earlier this year, which further bridged the gap between their current range with a Crossover/SUV model.

It'll be no slouch on the track though, with a lot of power reserves underneath that sleek front-end. Initial figures touted suggest that the four-wheel drive quattro Q8 will do 0-62mph in just 5.4 seconds with a top speed of a 155mph. Just a bit quick, then. There's also likely to be an eco option, with Audi's trademarked 'E-Tron' range bringing a plug-in hybrid option to Q8 customers. While the full details on this drivetrain isn't yet disclosed, Audi believe the vehicle will be able to travel up to 37 miles on just electric power.

Inside, their is expected to be a whole host of new kit available to drivers. The popular 'Virtual Cockpit' system which Audi have implemented in several new Audi's will arrive inside the Q8 alongside a number of additional tech features. The design of the Q8 remains in line with Audi's other models, but unlike the Q7 it's expected to take on a more 'sporty' outlook in order to pull in the customers of a flourishing market.
