We are pleased to welcome a new member of the pick-up truck family, as Fiat have revealed its first pickup called “Fullback” at the Dubai Motor Show.
The new Fiat Fullback pickup is expected to arrive in the UK market in autumn 2016 and go against pickup class leaders the Nissan Navara, Mitsubishi L200 and Toyota Hilux.
At this stage, not much detail was revealed however the Fullback has been confirmed in only one double cab body style with a carrying payload capacity of up to 1045 kg – which is just 5kg less than the class-leading L200 which its based on!
In terms of size and dimensions, the Fullback measures up to 1780mm in height, 1815mm in width and 5285mm in length...
Engine wise, its expected to be powered by a 2.4 litre aluminium turbo diesel engine with a power output of either 150hp or 180hp. There will be two transmissions available for users to choose between; a new six-speed manual gearbox or a five-speed automatic transmission with sports mode. The all-wheel drive and sports mode will also be included as standard.
As the pickup market is growing; the Fullback is Fiat’s first contender in the medium pickup truck segment in the European region, which totalled the 675,000 units in 2014 representing 23% of total sales in the LCV segment.
More details including pricing, specification and equipment lists will be announced closer to the launch next year! However we would expect the pricing to start from around £24K in order to help it compete with rival vehicles.
