Mini John Cooper Works Facelift Updates

In a nutshell - Mini John Cooper Works

  • Brilliant MINI Countryman John Cooper Works receives facelift.
  • Tweaks for exterior included new radiator grille, bigger tailpipes and new LED headlamps.
  • New 5-inch digital dash for the interior.
  • With 306 hp and 450Nm of torque to play with, it could embarrass sports cars.
  • Priced from £36,000 RRP and available now to order from retailers nationwide.

The MINI Countryman John Cooper Works looks more stylish than ever thanks to a subtle new makeover.

And with blistering performance figures lying beneath a ‘family hatchback’ exterior, it could be the ultimate wolf in sheep’s clothing.

The power remains the same as the previous Countryman John Cooper Works - namely ‘the most powerful engine ever used in a production MINI’, according to the firm itself.

You get a 2.0 litre ‘TwinPower’ turbocharged unit, with an independent cooling system, and producing 306 hp and 450 Nm of torque.

It’s married to an intelligently controlled all-wheel drive system, the differential lock on the front wheels integrated into the 8-speed Steptronic transmission, to ensure ‘superior performance at all times’.

And that means the Countryman John Cooper Works will sprint from 0-62mph in just 5.1 seconds.

MINI says the car sounds better than ever thanks to the sport exhaust system with enlarged tailpipes.

Meanwhile the pocket rocket boasts all the precision and agility you’d expert from something to emerge from the John Cooper factory.

A MINI spokesperson says: “In addition to specifically modified components, the chassis also has suspension and damping features refined with racing expertise, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and electro-mechanical steering."

“As an option, the new MINI Countryman John Cooper Works can be equipped with an adaptive chassis. Standard equipment includes a sports brake system with 4-piston fixed caliper disc brakes on the front wheels, single-piston floating-caliper disc brakes on the rear wheels and 18-inch John Cooper Works light-alloy wheels with brake callipers painted in Chili Red.”

If that tech spec is enough to put a grin on your face, the new exterior should make you smile, too.

There’s a newly-designed radiator grille, with ‘signature hexagonal contours and slim, one-piece chrome frame surround’.

The standard LED headlights and the rear lights have a new design, and LED fog lights are now offered as standard.

And there’s also two brand new body colours available - ‘White Silver’ metallic and ‘Sage Green’ metallic.

An old colour option - ‘Piano Black Exterior’, where the headlamp surrounds, rear lights, radiator grille, door handles and model lettering on the luggage compartment lid are finished in high-gloss black instead of chrome - also now comes standard and won’t cost you more as an extra.

Meanwhile there have been improvements inside the cabin, too.

You now get a 5-inch digital dash behind the steering wheel, first introduced on the MINI Electric.

And the standard audio system now offers streaming via Bluetooth connection and a hands-free telephone system with USB interface.

The new MINI Countryman John Cooper Works is priced from £36,000 RRP and is available now to order from retailers nationwide.
