Goodwood Festival of Speed 2017 preview: Cars to be revealed

One of the UK’s most popular and highly awaited events; the Goodwood Festivals of Speed is almost here, starting from 29th June 2017 until the 2nd July 2017.

Since 1993, the Goodwood Festival of Speed has been loved for its new car reveals and the bringing motoring community together at the world famous location in Essex.

This years’ Goodwood FOS event will be based on the all-new “Peaks of performance – Motorsport’s Game Changers” theme to celebrate and pay tribute to racing machines of past that were fast, powerful and expensive, leaving an ineffaceable mark on the sport’s history.

“The Five Stages of Ecclestone” is going to be the central feature of Goodwood FOS event this year, celebrating the life and the four-decade career of Bernie Ecclestone - the former CEO of Formula 1 group.

Sunday GT Showdown:

To end what’s sure to be a remarkable weekend, Goodwood will show a special section of GT stars and cars around the world of GT racing. The line-up will include Jonny Adam driving the Aston Martin Vantage, Charlie Eastwood will be seen in his Porsche 911 GT3 cup car and Andy Soucek in the Arrinerra Hussarya GT3 along with more GT cars including Lexus RC-F GT3 and GT4 cars from Ford and McLaren.

Highlight of the event – a new car launches that we can’t wait to see

Ferrari celebrates 70th anniversary: Goodwood is going to be part of celebrating Ferrari’s 70th anniversary celebrations. Reportedly, Ferrari will present a jaw-dropping collection of 70 of its finest cars along with significant racing cars and star drivers in action up Goodwood’s famous 1.16-mile hill climb throughout the event.

Mercedes-Benz AMG: Mercedes-Benz will also be celebrating 50 years of AMG at the festival. The celebration will feature some of the greatest cars of Mercedes AMG with an unveiling of its new hybrid powertrain of AMG called – the AMG GT Concept.

Jaguar XE SV Project 8: It’s also been confirmed that Jaguar is going to unveil its XE SV Project 8 car at the festival. The car will be limited to only 300 cars across the world. It will also be powered by a 5.0 litre supercharged V8 petrol engine, producing 592bhp - making it one of the most powerful Jaguar’s in history.

Land Rover Velar: Land Rover’s new reveal Velar will also be seen at Goodwood ahead of its first UK deliveries to be made this summer.

Alpine A110: Renault’s reborn sports car brand Alpine will be launching its brand new addition A110 sport car. This all-new vehicle will do 249bhp with a planned 2018 UK launch.

Bentley Continental: Bentley’s new 700bhp Continental car will also make its UK debut; driven by Le Mans 24-hour’ racing driver Derek Bell. Like other manufacturers, Bentley will also be showing their history including the 2003 Le Mans winning Speed 8.

Alfa Romeo Stelvio: Italian brand Alfa Romeo’s first SUV, the Stelvio will also be making its UK debut at the Festival with a plan to hit UK roads later this year. There will also be the brand’s selection of racing cars on display for Goodwood audiences.

London Taxi Company’s new electric black cab:

The London taxi company’s new electric black cab will make its dynamic debut at the FOS event. Seventeen-year-old Katie Milner who is currently the fastest women in the Ginetta championship – will get behind the wheel of the taxi for the hill climb and will also become the youngest female driver to participate in the prestigious event.

Mini: The BMW-owned brand Mini is coming up with its first ever plug-in hybrid - the Countryman PHEV.
