Kia Sportage Lease

Kia Sportage lease is a great choice for your next family SUV.

The Kia Sportage has always been a very popular SUV – but it's moved on to a new level since getting a significant overhaul in 2021.

Out went the modest, safe, family-friendly looks and in came a giant, striking grille with low, boomerang-style headlights.

What the old, understated design didn’t do was mask the fact it was a very capable SUV – and now it's even better.

Not only that, but Kia's burgeoning reputation has catapulted it into contention with some of the best, boasting superb reliability, generous warranties and cars that perform well without breaking the bank.

On that note, let's look at the Sportage in more detail and see how much money we could save you on your next SUV.

The Kia Sportage - which sits between the larger Sorento and smaller Niro in the Kia SUV range - is a great-looking family load-lugger and a car that recently scooped the ‘Best Medium SUV’ prize at the Business Motoring Awards 2020.

A 1.6 litre turbocharged petrol engine - which can be married to an all-wheel-drive system - has proved popular with lease customers, while a new mild-hybrid diesel offers all the style, technology and performance of the petrol engine model, but with added financial and environmental benefits.

The mild-hybrid model offers fuel economy close to 50mpg while emitting 153g/km of CO2.

And even base ‘2’ trim models come loaded with equipment, including 17" alloy wheels, touchscreen sat nav, reversing camera, Lane Keep Assist, heated seats and full phone connectivity.

Some of the higher level Sportage trims offer multiple benefits including black leather upholstery with red piping and stitching, an 8"inch touchscreen, and an uprated 8-speaker JBL premium sound system.

All in all, a Kia Sportage lease is more than a match for rivals like the Nissan Qashqai and Renault Kadjar.

About the Kia Sportage

The Kia Sportage is a popular, well-built and well-equipped SUV.

The front end has been given a significant revamp, while sporty creases at the sides give it an athletic presence, and the rear is shapely and full of personality.

It is also very relaxing and easy to drive, thanks to a spacious cabin and well-mannered handling. Meanwhile, all powertrains perform well, although the hybrid models offer noticeably stronger performance.

The Sportage is reasonably economical, too, while the plug-in hybrid version is capable of all-electric driving with a range of around 40 miles.

It has plenty of safety features and driver assistance systems, with more features further up the trim levels.

In addition, higher trim levels add to the convenience, with a premium sound system and powered tailgate among the items on offer.

Why lease a Kia Sportage?

The Kia Sportage might not sound that exciting, but you may change your mind when you see how it looks.

It offers a head-turning front end and a shapely rear with a large crease running horizontally along the back as if someone's pulled its skin slightly to create a spoiler.

It is stylish and attractive but isn't all show and no-go. The Kia is also superbly practical, boasting a generous amount of headroom and legroom inside the cabin.

Not only that, the interior itself looks modern and inviting, with a curved dashboard display, and, as SUVs go, it handles well, too.

Even entry-level trims are well-equipped, although you get more and more added on as you go higher up the range./p>

Which Kia Sportage fuel type is right for me?

The Sportage is available as a petrol, self-charging hybrid or plug-in hybrid. Kia doesn't sell diesels these days, and there's no all-electric version of the Sportage, at least not yet.

Petrol

The petrol version of the Sportage comes with a 1.6-litre engine with a six-speed manual gearbox, producing 150PS. Most are front-wheel drive, although higher trims get an all-wheel drive option. Some have mild hybrid technology, too.

Hybrid

The true hybrids come in two versions: a self-charging variant (HEV) which produces around 230PS, while the plug-in version (PHEV) produces 265PS, both using a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine and an electric motor.

Which trim level should I lease?

There are several trim levels offered on the Kia Sportage – five of them, to be precise: ‘2’, GT-Line, ‘3’, ‘4’ and GT-Line S, although the ‘2’ trim isn’t available on the hybrids.

2

2

The entry-level grade offers 17-inch alloy wheels, an eight-inch infotainment display, LED day running lights and a 4.2-inch instrument screen.

GT-Line

GT-Line

This trim comes with a host of upgrades, with 19-inch wheels, a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, lumbar driver support, quilted leather suede seats and keyless entry.

GT-Line S

GT-Line S

The top-of-the-range grade gets suede upholstery, ventilated seats, electric memory front seats, a powered tailgate and a two-tone roof.

What vehicles are similar to the Kia Sportage that I should consider?

This is a jam-packed section of the automotive marketplace, so we could list many vehicles here. However, the main competitors are the Skoda Karoq, Nissan Qashqai and the Seat Ateca.

Skoda Karoq Estate

Skoda Karoq Estate

The Skoda Karoq offers superb practicality, a comfortable and absorbing ride and a well-equipped, attractive interior.

Nissan Qashqai Hatchback

Nissan Qashqai Hatchback

The Nissan Qashqai is a good all-rounder, offering a decent amount of practicality at a reasonable leasing price, especially on the mid-range trim levels.

Seat Ateca Estate

Seat Ateca Estate

The Seat Ateca offers a surprising level of refinement in terms of its driving experience, a large cabin for its size, and generous equipment levels at an affordable leasing price.

Kia Sportage Frequently Asked Questions

The Kia Sportage is a good-sized, striking-looking family SUV, available in both two-wheel-drive and more rugged all-wheel-drive versions, giving plenty of versatility for everyday use as well as those more adventurous moments. Leasing a Kia Sportage will allow you to be more adventurous too, with a range of impressively priced vehicles through select Car Leasing. Our network will give you access to the best, most affordable deals available, so take advantage and start scrolling.

If you’re unsure whether it’s better to lease or to buy your new car, then have a read of our Buying Vs Leasing Guide which details out the main things for you to consider.

Leasing a Kia Sportage can offer you more flexibility than you might expect, with a great choice of vehicles available from Select Car Leasing. Not only can we provide you with plenty of excellent options at budget fitting prices, but you can also browse our special offers to find the perfect vehicle for you, at the price that suits your pocket.

The Kia Sportage has an assured, refined presence on the road, and a stylish, comfortable interior that will serve a family or a single driver with the same steadfast reliability. With official fuel consumption figures of up to 52mpg, you’ll get value for money from your motoring too, as well as lowering emissions with the mild-hybrid version.

Model grades with carefully selected equipment levels also mean there’s no lengthy options list to work through, with your only choice being a trim level and paint colour.

There is plenty of safety equipment fitted to the Kia Sportage as standard, and with an award of five stars out of five from the safety experts at Euro NCAP, you’ll be as safe as you can be if the worst should happen. All models are equipped with active and passive safety features, such as anti-lock braking systems, electronic stability control and lane-keeping assist systems, as well as curtain airbags, rollover sensors and impact sensing doors that unlock after a crash to aid emergency exit or recovery.

As well as being safe, the Kia Sportage is easy and practical to drive. Cruise control, fitted as standard, makes motorway cruising effortless, and reversing sensors and cameras take the strain out of manoeuvring the vehicle too, ensuring you’re feeling fresh and alert once you arrive at your destination.

There are four trim levels of Sportage available from Kia, starting with the entry point to the rage, the ‘2’. If you’re wondering where ‘1’ went, that’s a lower specification trim reserved for Kia’s smaller hatchbacks. Following that is the ‘3’ and then the GT-Line and GT-Line S models. Each adds more equipment, although the ‘2 is well specified to start with, while the GT-Line models add some sporty design touches.

Be careful when choosing engine options, though. There’s just two 1.6- litre petrol engines and a 1.6-litre diesel engine to choose from, but add mamnual and automatic gearbox choices and either front- or all-well-drive, with some combinations only available on some models, and the decision aking process can get more complex than you think.

Don't just take our word for it. We're rated at 4.9/5 on independent reviews website Trustpilot from over 35,563 genuine customer reviews
