Hyundai IONIQ 5 Lease

Head-turning styling, a futuristic interior and class-leading battery technology combine to make the all-electric Hyundai Ioniq 5 a tantalising lease prospect.

A rival to the Tesla Model 3 and the new Kia EV6, the Ioniq 5 shouldn’t be confused with the more understated Hyundai Ioniq.

With the 5, lease customers will enjoy brilliant retro looks and a near 300 mile range between charges.

The exterior features a unique ‘clamshell’ bonnet, daytime running lights that include small, pixel-like clusters at the rear, as well as auto-flush door handles and super-sized 20-inch alloys - the largest rims ever fitted to a Hyundai EV.

Inside the cabin there’s a movable centre console - called the ‘Universal Island’ - so you can optimise space, as well a pair of 12.5 inch infotainment screens, Augmented Reality Head-Up Display (AR HUD), and a high-end Bose audio system.

Tech wise, there’s a raft of driver assistance gadgets, including Highway Driving Assist, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist and Intelligent Speed Limit Assist.

And you can also enjoy the Ioniq 5 as either a single motor, rear-wheel drive car, or as a dual motor, all-wheel drive version.

There’s also a choice between either a 58kWh or 72.6kWh battery, the latter of which provides around 300 hp and a blistering 0-62mph time of just 5.2 seconds.

And when equipped with two-wheel drive and a 72.6-kWh battery, the Ioniq 5 has a maximum driving range on a single charge of up to 298 miles.

About the Hyundai Ioniq 5

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 was unveiled to the world in early 2021 – and since it’s gone on sale, it’s garnered rave reviews.

With futuristic looks, a lovely interior, excellent performance and arriving with a very generous level of equipment, it’s no surprise that it’s ranked among the best all-electric cars on the market.

If you’ve never considered an electric vehicle, this could be the one that wins you over.

Despite its boxy hatchback shape, it’s a much bigger car than it appears on your screen, competing against other small SUV crossovers.

It also shares much of its DNA with the more aggressive-looking Kia EV6, which won the European Car of the Year 2022.

Several trim levels are available, each of which adds more trimmings on top of an already fantastic recipe.

Why lease a Hyundai Ioniq 5?

The great thing about the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is that it ticks all the essential boxes.

It is spacious, practical, and good-looking, comes well-equipped, and it offers the best of both worlds in terms of superb performance that exceeds a typical small SUV, even at entry-level.

Moreover, you'll also be getting zero emissions and low day-to-day running costs, despite the surging price of electricity.

You can upgrade to more powerful versions, satisfying those who want more entertainment from their driving experience while it impresses in terms of all-electric range.

As a bonus, the Ioniq 5 has one of the fastest charging speeds of any electric car currently on the market, at 350kW, allowing you to be on your way in no time.

Which trim level should I lease?

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 comes in a trio of trim levels: Premium, Ultimate and Namsan Edition.

Premium

Premium

As standard, you’ll get a decent level of equipment on all Ioniq 5s, with 19-inch alloys at entry-level, dual 12.3-inch infotainment screens and digital instrument display, LED headlights, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and a powered tailgate.

Ultimate

Ultimate

The mid-range trim, Ultimate, adds 20-inch alloy wheels, a Bose premium sound system, a head-up display and leather seats, which are electric in the front of the car.

Namsan Edition

Namsan Edition

The top-of-the-range Namsan Edition grade adds more luxuries with a panoramic glass sunroof - and digital door mirrors replacing traditional mirrors with cameras and a monitor on either side of the car.

What vehicles are similar to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 that I should consider?

Given its fastback shape, there are few direct rivals to the Hyundai Ioniq 5. But consider these other all-electric cars: the Tesla Model 3, the Volkswagen ID.3 and the Audi Q4 e-Tron.

Audi Q4 e-tron SUV

Audi Q4 e-tron SUV

The Q4 e-Tron blends comfort and classiness with a lovely interior and excellent practicality, which is well equipped and, for an Audi, available at a reasonable leasing price.

Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV

Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV

The Ford Mustang Mach-E is a wholesome all-rounder that blends spaciousness, practicality and hearty equipment levels, and it's also good to drive.

Volkswagen ID.4 SUV

Volkswagen ID.4 SUV

The Volkswagen ID.4 offers family-friendly looks with lots of space in the cabin and boot, plus it’s well-equipped.

Kia EV6 SUV

Kia EV6 SUV

The Kia EV6 is the Hyundai Ioniq 5 for those who want something more aggressive and sportier. It is fundamentally the same car underneath but adds athletic looks and keener handling, not that the Ioniq 5 isn't agile enough already.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 Frequently Asked Questions

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is stylish, futuristic and larger than it looks, providing decent power, practicality and equipment housed in a lovely cabin interior. It does all this while keeping running costs low, while its charging speeds are one of the fastest. Its ultra-modern looks give off bags of personality, and it's a superb all-rounder that ticks all the boxes – a jack of all trades, yes, but a master of them, too. With plenty of creature comforts as standard, you're not being short-changed when it comes to the equipment list, and it has excellent range, which, like its charging speed, is one of the best currently on the market thanks to its large battery capacity.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 can be yours at a competitive leasing price, even if you choose the top-of-the-range Namsan Edition trim. Here at Select Car Leasing, we use our relationships with manufacturers to offer very competitive deals. So, this means you could be driving off in an entry-level Ioniq 5 from around £500 a month.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 comes with a generous amount of equipment as standard, adding comfort and convenience to your car. Very few vehicles include heated front seats and a heated steering wheel as standard at entry level, but the Ioniq 5 does just that. In addition, its modern, futuristic interior is awash with technology, controlled through two 12.3-inch touchscreens, which house the infotainment system and the digital instrument display. If your car leasing budget extends slightly further, an upgraded sound system and panoramic glass roof can also be added.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is as safe as houses. It was awarded a full five-star rating after being put through its paces in safety assessments by the crash-testing specialists at Euro NCAP. Its technology level also impresses, with lots of safety systems and driving assistance included as standard. The safety kit encompasses highway drive assist with adaptive cruise control, intelligent speed limit assist, blind spot monitoring and self-parking, and forward collision avoidance. In terms of its practicality, it excels in this area, too, with a spacious and comfortable interior, and its boot opens wide to reveal a generous amount of cargo capacity.

Three trim levels are available on the Hyundai Ioniq 5: Premium, Ultimate and Namsan Edition. Putting Premium at entry-level is apt, too, as it comes with a generous level of equipment. This grade includes 19-inch alloys, two 12.3-inch infotainment screens for infotainment and the driver display, the latter replacing the analogue dials behind the steering wheel. You also get LED headlights, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and an electrically powered tailgate. At the same time, the Ultimate trim adds larger 20-inch alloys, a Bose premium sound system, a head-up display, leather seats and electric front seats, with the Namsan Edition getting a panoramic glass roof and digital door mirrors.
