Cupra Born Lease

The Born from CUPRA is a taut, aggressive and eye-catching all-electric hatchback that has won a clutch of awards since its launch in 2022.

And with a host of different battery sizes to suit all needs, the Born could be the lean, mean and green lease machine you’ve been dreaming of.

Don’t just take our word for it - the Born was shortlisted for the coveted 2022 European Car of the Year award, making it a genuine rival to market leaders like the VW ID.3, the Peugeot e-208 and the Hyundai Kona Electric.

The Born slots into the CUPRA range alongside the Leon hatchback and the Formentor crossover, both of which can be had as desirable hybrids.

And with the Born, there are three distinct powertrains.

The entry-level 58kWh battery equates to power of 204 PS and a range of up to 263 miles. A larger 77kWh battery is also up for grabs, which takes power up to 231 PS and increases the range between charges to 335 miles.

Meanwhile a more affordable option is the 45kWh battery, which boasts power of 150 PS, a range of 211 miles before it needs plugging in, and a punchy 0-62mph time of 8.9 seconds.

Inside the cabin lease customers can expect a 12-inch infotainment touchscreen as standard on all models, while bucket seats add some sporting character and a 385 litre boot means the Born is also practical for families.

There’s a liberal use of recycled materials throughout the cabin, adding to the Born’s eco credentials, with the seats made from upcycled marine litter.

And it’s a car that’s also generously loaded with tech, including full phone connectivity, an augmented reality head-up display and assistance systems like Predictive Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Sign Recognition, and Pre-Crash Assist all fitted as standard.

And remember that because the Cupra Born produces zero CO2 emissions at the tailpipe, business lease customers can expect to pay just 1% Benefit in Kind (BIK) tax for the year 2021-22.

About the CUPRA Born

When the Born first went on sale in 2022 it represented the first-ever electric vehicle from Spanish manufacturer CUPRA - the performance off-shoot of SEAT.

And the Born quickly won admirers while picking up plenty of industry awards, including the ‘Small Electric Car of the Year' prize at the prestigious What Car? Awards 2022.

It’s not hard to see the appeal.

The Born is a sibling of the Volkswagen ID.3, sharing the same electric platform, with both CUPRA and VW part of the same manufacturing group.

Yet the Born is more menacing, more streetwise, more powerful, and also has a better electric range than the ID.3.

With so much going for it, you might be surprised by just how affordable it is to lease with Select.

Why lease a CUPRA Born SUV?

The Born gets its name from the hip, trendy El Born district of Barcelona, Spain.

And if you like the vibe of the Volkswagen ID.3, but you’re not sold on the ‘vanilla’ styling, then the CUPRA Born should be high up your wish list.

The Born has roughly the same dimensions as the ID.3, coming with a practical 385 litre boot and plenty of room in the rear for passengers.

Size-wise, the Cupra Born is actually similar in proportions to a Ford Focus or VW Golf, making it wholly practical for busy families.

You’ve also got a choice of two batteries - 58 kWh or a 77 kWh - offering power of either 204 PS or 230 PS, respectively, and a range of up to 335 miles.

To put that into perspective, the most powerful ID.3 you’ll find has just 204 PS. The ID.3’s maximum range also falls short at 265 miles.

Which CUPRA Born battery is right for me?

58 kWh

The regular 58 kWh battery provides power of 204 PS and a range of up to 265 miles. But there’s also an ‘e Boost’ version that shunts power up to 230 PS, while range remains similar at 262 miles. The 58 kWh battery supports fast charging at a speed of up to 120 kW DC.

77 kWh e Boost

The 77 kWh ‘e Boost’ model has power of 230 PS and a range of up to 335 miles. It also supports 135kW DC fast charging, which can take the battery from 5-80% in 36 minutes.

The 77 kWh with e Boost will see the Born sprint from 0-62 mph in 7.0 seconds.

Which CUPRA Born trim level should I lease?

The trim levels of the CUPRA Born are V1, V2, and V3. The largest of the two batteries is reserved for V2 and V3 models. But you can enjoy the smaller 58 kWh unit in any trim.

V1

V1

Entry level V1 models enjoy the 58 kWh battery as well as 18 inch alloys, a 12 inch infotainment screen with sat nav, adaptive cruise control and sporty bucket seats.

V2

V2

The V2 Born can be equipped with either the 58 kWh or 77 kWh battery, and lease customers can expect 19 inch alloys, heated front seats and an augmented reality head-up display.

V3

V3

You can lease the V3 Born with either the 58 kWh battery or 77 kWh unit, and it’s a trim level that also features 20 inch alloys and heated seats with massage function The e Boost models also get a heated steering wheel.

What vehicles are similar to the CUPRA Born that I should consider?

The list of all-electric hatchbacks grows longer by the month. And the CUPRA Born has plenty of rivals. Here are some key competitors:

MG Motor UK MG4 EV Hatchback

MG Motor UK MG4 EV Hatchback

The MG4 EV has a range of up to 270 miles, smaller than the Born, but is slightly more affordable to lease.

Volkswagen ID.3 Hatchback

Volkswagen ID.3 Hatchback

CUPRA and VW are both part of the overarching Volkswagen Group, so the ID.3 and Born are closely related. The ID.3 is less of a hooligan, style wise, and more sedate.

Peugeot e-208 Hatchback

Peugeot e-208 Hatchback

The Peugeot e-208 is another small electric hatchback that excels in the style stakes. The e-208 has a range of up to 225 miles.

Renault Megane E-Tech Hatchback

Renault Megane E-Tech Hatchback

The all-electric Renault Megane E-Tech runs the CUPRA Born close when it comes to performance. It has power of 220 hp and also supports fast charging at 130 kW DC.

Toyota GR Yaris Hatchback

If you want a hot-hatch, but you’re not quite ready to join the electric revolution, a traditionally-fuelled sporty hatchback like the Toyota GR Yaris might appeal.

Cupra Born Review

That trend is continuing with this new vehicle, the Born – there is no standard SEAT version. It is an all-electric compact family car designed to take on the likes of the Kia e-Niro and the Hyundai Ioniq 5. In line with the rest of the Cupra brand, the Born’s trims are named with a ‘V’, so there’s V1, V2 and V3. While it isn’t the most aggressive vehicle Cupra has in its range, it looks the part and gives off the impression of a hot hatch.

CUPRA Born FAQ

The CUPRA Born is, quite simply, one of the best electric vehicles on the market right now. It pulls off the very rare trick of being both affordable and practical as well as being sporty and quick.

The styling of the Born is spot-on if you like youthful vehicles with bags of personality. Those bronze accents set the tone for the entire car.

And with a range of up to 335 miles between charges, it’s also an EV that lots of other electric hatchbacks will be looking at with envy. No wonder it’s picking up so many awards.

The most affordable CUPRA Born models come in ‘V1’ trim and have a 58 kWh battery. That electric unit provides an extremely healthy range of up to 265 miles as well as potent power of 204 PS. Not bad at all for an ‘entry level’ electric car.

Here at Select Car Leasing our unrivalled network of industry contacts among finance companies and dealer networks means we can offer our customers the most competitive leasing rates on the market. If you’d like to discuss a CUPRA Born lease, hit the ‘Enquire’ button next to one of the deals or call 0118 467 8338.

When the CUPRA Born was tested by the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) in 2022 it achieved a maximum five star score.

The autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system was praised, with assessors also adding: “If the car is drifting out of lane, a camera-based system gently corrects the vehicle’s path. The system also intervenes in some more critical situations, to avoid road

departure for example.”

Standard equipment on base V1 models includes emergency steering support with turn assist, forward collision warning with automatic braking and lane assist.

All in all, the CUPRA Born is an exceptionally safe car to lease.

There are three main trim levels - V1, V2, and V3. But on top of that, the V2 and V3 are also available as an ‘e Boost’ model, which makes the most out of the battery in terms of range and adds extra creature comforts, such as a heated steering wheel.

The V1 Born is available solely with a 58 kWh battery, while V2 and V3 Borns can also be equipped with a larger 77 kWh battery, enabling you to enjoy the maximum range available of 335 miles between charges.

Whichever trim level you choose, the exterior styling of the CUPRA Born will ensure you always stand out from the crowd.

I had a great first experience with leasing from Select car leasing and am so happy with my new car David talked me through the whole process and answered any questions I had..he explained everything in basic terms so I knew and understood everything We waited a few days for the credit checks to come back and I asked David if it usually took this long..he assured me it did so I think it was about 5 working days and he rang with the good news The paperwork side of things then took over and once that was all completed,it was just to wait for a date The whole process was done over the portal so you could keep up to date with any developments but if you had any questions, then David was reachable by phone We had a date for the car delivery and the driver turned up after giving me a ring, earlier in the morning to confirm a time..the car arrived and I checked it over as we had to sign to say say everything was OK with the car. All is great and am so happy with my new car I would highly recommend this company for your lease car
